LENT - The Quarantania

Ruvo A, starting from the first day of Lent, in some parts of the city are located the Quarantane.

These are hung by means of appropriate support at a certain height from the ground are probably something very beautiful and special in the eyes of the beholder, especially if a stranger. The

Quarantania is considered the wife of the Carnival, is represented by a doll resembling a hunched old, dry and gaunt, dressed in black with a hand in a time and in 'an other' orange or a potato stuck with seven pens chicken to symbolize the weeks of Lent.
Each week you remove a pen until the doll is left completely free.
On Easter day, to moving the statue of the Risen Christ, is the spectacle of ritual "outbreak of Quarantania" which assists a cheering crowd.
