Founded at the end of a mission by the Jesuit popular Domenico Bruno in 1719, as a congregation of Forest (daily laborers or country), was dedicated to the Purification of the Virgin and St. Ignatius of Loyola. The events related to 'expulsion of the Jesuits from the kingdom of Naples in 1767 and the abolition of' order led to the temporary inactivity of the association that was reorganized with new rules in 1777 which dates from the royal recognition of Ferdinand IV.
In 1810 he moved to the Church of SS. mo Rosario, known as St Domenico, contributing to the renewal of architectural and decoration of the 'religious building.
In 1833, with papal approval, he added the title of the Purification of 'Sorrows. And the Virgin of Seven Sorrows dedicates the Brotherhood since its foundation, practice of devotion and worship details, beginning with the procession on Good Friday, the previous Palm Sunday.
The statue of the Madonna, called Bleak, was built in 1907 by Corrado Molfettese Binetti second forms of expression dear to popular devotion to the Virgin, with the face of a young girl, wearing clothes and blacks are at the foot of the cross in place to embrace her; a sword 'gold is stuck at' heart to symbolize the height of the prophecy of Simeon.
The same fraternity organized on Easter Sunday, in a festive atmosphere, the procession of the Risen Christ, which takes place during the 'ancient agrarian ritual to the outbreak of Quarantane.
